Radiators: new, swapped, moved and valves
A new radiator in the right place makes a cold room usable. I fit new ones, swap old ones, move them when you're changing a room round, and change the valves.
What I get called for
- New radiators, including bigger ones for cold rooms
- Radiator replacement: swapping an old radiator for a new one
- Moving a radiator to another wall
- Thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) and lockshield valves
What happens when I turn up
- Tell me which room, roughly how big it is, and send a photo of what's there now. That's usually enough for me to quote.
- I drain down what's needed, fit it, refill, bleed and balance the system so the new radiator gets hot.
- I'll check the system pressure before I leave and show you how to top it up if you ever need to.
Questions
Can you move a radiator to a different wall?
Yes. It means running new pipe to the new spot. I'll look at the route and tell you how I'd do it and what it costs before starting.
Do you supply the radiator?
I can, or you can buy your own. If you buy it, send me the details first so I can check the size and connections.
Will I need to drain the whole system?
Not always. Often I only need to drain part of it. I'll tell you on the day.
