Cheadle is the village end of SK8, west of High Lane, the far side of Bramhall. The centre is still the High Street, Cheadle Green and St Mary's, the old parish church. Close in you get Victorian terraces. Further out, towards Abney Hall Park, the A34 and the M60, the houses are later.
A lot of the jobs are in those older houses. A tap, a leak, a radiator that needs moving, or a cylinder in a cupboard that's had it. On a heat pump I look at the radiators and the pipework first. Some of the terraces have small rooms and older pipe sizes, so I say honestly if the system will heat the house before anyone buys a pump.
I'm a City & Guilds qualified plumber, and I'm BPEC Level 3 heat pump qualified. The heat pump work is the plumbing side: the outdoor unit, the pipework, the cylinder, the radiators or underfloor heating, and the controls. I don't do boiler or gas work. If a gas boiler has to come off, that part is a Gas Safe engineer.
